Valencian IT During the Sixties in espai.inf |Exhibition and Talk

• The Museum of Computing Science promotes an informative exhibition about Valencian IT during the sixties, it will support by two experts from this period.

The Higher Technical School of Computer Engineering of UPV, ETSINF, will host the exhibition “‘Valencian IT During the Sixties’ ” in the exhibition area espai.inf, from 2 to 22 November.

The initiative has been carried out thanks to the Museum of Computing Science of UPV Vicente Oltra Climent and José Luis Miñana Terol,two professional entrepreneurs with extensive experience in this area who met at CEMEVASA, Centro de Servicios Mecanizados Valenciano, S.A. where them both were linked to IT.

The exhibition consists of six posters which show different aspects of IT during the sixties in the Valencian Community, the socio-economic dimension, economic structure and major companies during this period. They also reflect the existing technological resources, define exactly what a calculation centre is, which computer they had with special attention to Bull Gamma 10 and the way it works, also to find out more about CEMEVASA, the company where they both authors belonged for nearly a decade.

As part of the Schedule will be a talk next Thursday 12 November. It will be led by two main promoters of the exhibition, who are going to explain their experience. This session will be held at the ETSINF’s Conference Hall on Thursday 12 at 12.30pm. Free entry.

Authors:

Vicente Oltra Climent (Carcaixent, 1939)

Professor of Commerce (Business School of Valencia), Law Degree from University of Valencia y PhD in Law from the University of Valencia.

Current president of Instituto de Consultores de Dirección (Manager Consultant Institute), Vicente Oltra Climent specializes in Management of Family Business. He was General Manager of Lladró (1979 – 1995), General Manager of Regulo (1977 – 1978), Manager of the Main Office in Banco de Promoción de Negocios (1973 – 1976) and Managing Director/ General Manager of CEMEVASA (1964 – 1972).

Previously, since he joined the world of business in 1958 he held several positions in the banking sector of Valencian Community (Spain), as a technician at first, and as management staff later.

 

José Luis Miñana Terol (Valencia 1949)

Industrial Technical Engineer- Specialized in Machinery (Industrial School of Valencia), Economics and Business Studies (UNED) and PhD in Business Administration and Management from UPV.

He is lecturer of Master in Consultant ITIO from UPV. He was Manager in the ai2 Institute of UPV (2003 – 2013), Associate Professor DOE (2003), Manager of Information and Communications Systems of Lladró (1980 – 2002) and Manager of Data Entry and Analysis in Banco de Promoción de Negocios (1973 a 1980).

Previously, since he joined the world of business in 1968 (CEMEVASA), he held several positions in the field of ICT of Valencian Community (Spain), as a technician at first, and as management staff later.
