VALENCIA VA DE RETRO

October is coming and Valencia Va-De-Retro comes back. Valencia’s Vintage IT and Video Games Festival holds its second edition this year. This year the fair comes full of new and interesting activities which will bring us back to seventies and eighties computers and video games. We will host an exhibition to commemorate the 30-year anniversary of the Commodore Amiga computer. An extensive games zone will be also available. So could play the arcade classics of your childhood, remembering the charm of pinball machines, or enjoying again your old computer or game console.

But that’s not all, Valencia Va-De-Retro 2015 will have also live podcasts, classic video game contests, talks, practical workshops, etc. as well, everyone present will be exceptional witnesses of an exhibition about further development of software and hardware, over thirty years later, for our dear childhood friends.

This event is arranged together by Museum of Computing Science of ETSINF and Va-De-Retro Staff, private collectors group, and promoted by Cultural Activities Area from UPV. Valencia Va-De-Retro will take place on October 3 inside Museum of Computing Science’s space (1E Building), access hours from 10am to 8pm, free access.

Scratch day

Museum of Computer Science will carry out next  7 September Scratch Day.

This activity proposes learning and developing small projects into the educational environment of Scratch programming, a learning atmosphere that will allow people without prior knowledge of programming to get a quick result without the need of learning to write in conventional programming language.

Scratch facilitates the creation of interactive stories, games and animations, its environment allows you combining objects, graphic elements, sounds and scripts, you also will be able of sharing your own creations online. This environment has been in development since 2007 by a team led by Mitchel Resnick at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Millions of people around the world use Scratch at present.

Scratch Day will take place on 7 September in labs of 1G Building of ETSINF. You can choose between Shift 1 from 10:00am to 13.30pm, or Shift 2 from 16:00pm to 19:00pm.
